Zaměřuje se na historické kořeny v antickém Řecku, na přelomovou osobnost Eugena Sandowa, který je považován za otce moderní kulturistiky, a na vznik mezinárodních soutěží v průběhu 20. století. Mapuje také období, kdy se kulturistika stala globálním fenoménem díky ikonám, jako byl Arnold Schwarzenegger, a sleduje její rozšíření v českých zemích. Součástí práce je shrnutí hlavních soutěží, federací a proměn, které tento sport prošel, včetně kontroverzí spojených s dopingem.

This paper presents the development of bodybuilding from its origins to the present day. It focuses on the historical roots in ancient Greece, on the groundbreaking figure Eugen Sandow, who is considered the father of modern bodybuilding, and on the emergence of international competitions during the 20th century. It also maps the period when bodybuilding became a global phenomenon thanks to icons such as Arnold Schwarzenegger, and follows its expansion in the Czech lands. The paper includes a summary of the main competitions, federations, and transformations that this sport has undergone, including controversies related to doping.
